By Ilhame Isabalaeva - Trend: The UN Children's Fund (UNICEF) will increase the number of children under six years of age who will be receiving pre-school education in Azerbaijan next year, UNICEF told Trend on November 7.

Next year, UNICEF will continue the project as part of cooperation with Azerbaijani Ministry of Education. The project that is realized with the support of Azerbaijani Finance Ministry covers six years old children, who do not have the opportunity to benefit of preschool education or who face some limits in benefiting from it.

A ten-week summer program on preparation for school is carried out as part of the project. This year the project has been implemented in Shabran, Yardimli and Gadabay, where some 173 groups including preschool aged children were created. From next year it is planned to expand the list of pilot districts. This program helps children to be better prepared for school. UNICEF believes that the new model can be used as one of the alternative forms of pre-school education.
