Baku, Azerbaijan, Dec. 18
By Ilkin Izzet - Trend:
Owners of tourist facilities in Azerbaijan should set prices for services in accordance with the conditions of the country, Azerbaijani Minister of Culture and Tourism Abulfaz Garayev said on Dec. 18, responding to a question about the high prices set at tourist facilities in Azerbaijan.
The minister said that lower prices set at Georgia's tourist facilities should make owners of Azerbaijani tourist facilities think twice.
"Apparently, our entrepreneurs are responsible, and they have to think about it. Owners of tourist facilities should set prices for services in accordance with the conditions of the country," the minister said.
Garayev noted that a slight increase in prices for services of tourism facilities in New Year's Eve is due to the competition.
"In the world practice there are cases when the seasonal service fees of the tourist facilities increase in periods of more efficient organization of recreation during holidays. But prices rise only during holidays and vacations," he said.
"There is nothing unusual in the fact that Azerbaijani citizens go on vacation in Georgia, Turkey, Russia and other countries. This is a completely natural process. That is why we are interested in attracting more tourists to Azerbaijan," Garayev said.
The minister said that on the New Year's Eve tourist facilities in Azerbaijan hold various activities.
"In addition, works are underway to organize the full activity of the Shahdag summer-winter tourist complex for this winter. Currently, new facilities of the complex, as well as ski slopes are being built. I am confident that this season we will be able to create all the necessary conditions for winter sports," he said.
