Children account for 30 percent of the population in Turkey, according to the 2013 statistics of the country's Statistical Institute.

The population of Turkey stood at 22,761,702 in 2013, the Statistical Institute said on April 22.

The statistics shows that the number of children in the country will drop by 17.6 percent in 2075.

People over age 65 accounted for 7.7 percent of Turkey's population in 2013.

The number of old-aged people is expected to increase by 10.2 percent in 2023, 20.8 percent in 2050 and 27.7 percent in 2075.

The majority (over 10 percent) of the old-aged people in Turkey, live in the cities of Sinop and Kastamonu, while the least number of the old-aged population (a maximum of three percent) live in the cities of Van, Hakkari and Shirnak, according to the country's Statistical Institute.
