Editor-in-chief's preparedness for dialogue is recognition of his guilty: Azerbaijani interior ministry

Azerbaijan, Baku, November 18 / Trend , K.Zarbaliyeva /

The words of the editor-in-chief of Femida 007 newspaper published in Azerbaijan about his willingness to dialogue with the Interior Ministry means his recognizing his guilty, Ministry's press officer Ehsan Zahidov told Trend on Nov. 18.

Interior Ministry appealed to Yasamal district court of Baku with regards to the editor-in-chief of Femida 007 newspaper Eyyub Karimov. The claimant demanded that Karimov must be made criminally responsible under article 147.2 (slander, coupled with the accusation of committing a serious or especially serious crime) of the Criminal Code.

According to Zahidov, feeling respect for journalists and the press, the Ministry paid no attention to baseless, slanderous interview, which was published in the Femida 007newspaper and others supporting Karimov over the past five years.

"It is impossible to be indifferent to the statements by Eyyub Karimov, in which he called the Interior Ministry the structure that trains offenders, compared the Ministry with bases involved in training terrorists. The idea that the claim was made by the Interior Minister is wrong. The appeal to the court was made after the insistence of numerous personnel and veterans of the Ministry and it was signed by the Minister as the head of the structure," said the spokesman of the Ministry.

The police officers were forced to take this step due to false, defamatory information about terrorist training of the Ministry, which took a long and glorious path and suffered heavy losses in personnel during work to ensure the country's order and combat crime and ensure the territorial integrity of the country, said the representative of the Ministry.

"Police officers are not liable to meet with Karimov and offer him reconciliation. The investigation over this case continues, and we believe that the court will make an objective and legitimate decision," said Zahidov.

In his interview to press, Karimov mentioned his readiness for dialogue with the Interior Ministry.

The trial over the lawsuit of the Interior Ministry will continue under the chairmanship of judge of Yasamal District Court Khagani Tagiyev on November 26.
