The UN Security Council says it is "outraged" by the Volgograd bombing and condemns it "in the strongest terms", dpa reported.
"These abhorrent and abominable attacks deliberately targeted places of mass gathering, in particular public transportation," council members said.
The body extended its condolences to families of the victims and called for the perpetrators to be brought to justice.
