Moldova sees Azerbaijan as potential investor

Moldova regards Azerbaijan as a potential investor, Moldova's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, Natalia Gherman said at a briefing in Baku.

"Moldova is especially interested in cooperation with Azerbaijan in the energy sphere," she stressed.

Gherman said that Azerbaijani business has already been established in Moldova, however, the country is interested in Azerbaijan's expanded participation.

The deputy prime minister went on to add that Moldova proposes to start the supply of its agricultural products to Azerbaijan, adding that the Azerbaijani consumers will be satisfied with her country's high-quality agricultural products.

Once Moldova and the European Union reach a qualitatively new level of cooperation, the country will be ready to offer a new market for the Azerbaijani businessmen, according to Gherman.

WB launches evaluation of new road project in Azerbaijan

The World Bank (WB) is launching a new evaluation of the Regional roads project in Azerbaijan, on the implementation of which the bank plans to allocate up to $250 million.

In accordance with the concept, the total cost of the project is $ 368.33 million, some $250 million of which will be allocated by the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD, part of the WB).

These funds will be used for the reconstruction of two regional road sections and the adjoining local roads with a total length of up to 100 kilometers.

Azerbaijan, Macedonia have potential for developing relations in trade and investments

Azerbaijan and Macedonia have a potential for development of bilateral relations in trade and investments, Azerbaijani Minister of Economy and Industry Shahin Mustafayev said at the Azerbaijani-Macedonian Business Forum in Baku.

"Despite the two countries signed two agreements on avoidance of double taxation and investment promotion and an appropriate legal framework was created, the indices of cooperation between Azerbaijan and Macedonia do not correspond to the potential of the two countries," the minister said.

Azerbaijan can enter the European market via Macedonia, while Macedonia - to the Asian market, Macedonian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Zoran Stavreski said at the event.

Macedonian Deputy Executive Director of the Agency for Foreign Investments and Export Promotion Kliment Sekerovski made a presentation on the opportunities of Macedonia in the field of business and investment.

EU attaches importance to development of relations with Azerbaijan

Azerbaijani Minister of Economy and Industry Shahin Mustafayev met with EU Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighborhood Policy Stefan Fule, the ministry said.

The information about the economy of Azerbaijan was disseminated at the meeting.

Serbian FM calls on Azerbaijani companies to be more active in his country's market

Azerbaijan and Serbia have strategic partnership relations and stand for developing their bilateral cooperation, Serbia's First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic said during the press conference in Baku.

Dacic stressed that despite the political will, the economic cooperation between the two countries doesn't correspond to their potential and called on Azerbaijani companies to be more active in the Serbian market

"It is planned to hold a business forum and negotiations between Azerbaijani and Serbian governments in the near future," the deputy prime minister added.

Azerbaijan ready to start talks with foreign countries on recognition of e-signatures

Azerbaijan's National Center for Certification of Electronic Digital Signatures (EDS) has been included to Microsoft's Trust List, the Director of Data Processing Center (DPC) of Azerbaijani Communications and High Technologies Ministry Nail Mardanov said.

He said Microsoft's main requirement for inclusion of the e-signature to the Trust List was the compliance of the DPC's Information Security Management System (ISMS) with the ISO/IEC 27001:2005 certificate.

The certificate confirms the support for the activity of the National Center for Certification in line with the international standards.

"This will allow us to begin talks with European and other countries on the mutual recognition of the e-signatures," Mardanov said.

First business incubator for training of young entrepreneurs in Azerbaijan created

During 2002-2014 preferential loans totaling 278.4 million AZN were allocated to 3,040 young entrepreneurs in Azerbaijan, Deputy Minister of Economy and Industry Sahib Mammadov said at the opening of a business incubator in Guba-Khachmaz regional development center.

"It will facilitate the creation of about 13,000 new jobs," the deputy minister said.

Moreover, various educational activities are carried out in order to attract young people to the business activities, entrepreneurs and young managers are sent to Germany for further training within the framework of the German-Azerbaijani program, he said.

The business incubator was provided with modern office equipment.

Alongside with local specialists, the business incubator will also employ foreign experts in the future.

It is also planned to send the participants of the business incubator to enterprises of other countries for training. They will be assisted in establishing business relations.

CBA drafting new corporate strategic plan

The Central Bank of Azerbaijan initiated the drafting of a new corporate strategic plan, CBA said. The CBA said this is the fifth strategic plan, ensuring the continuation of a long-term practice of the bank's strategic management.

The new corporate plan is being developed on the basis of strategic analysis and planning methodologies.

The first phase of the development of the new strategic plan, which directly involves the CBA management, employees of all structural divisions, includes a step of strategic analysis, covering all functions and business processes at the CBA.

Azerbaijani companies plan to increase investments in Georgia

Azerbaijani companies are planning to increase investments in Georgia, Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Garibashvili told reporters following negotiations in Baku.

"This is my first official visit to Baku. We have discussed many issues and reaffirmed that we are strategic partners. Georgia is a reliable partner of Azerbaijan," he said.

The prime minister said he expects new investments from Azerbaijan.

"It is planned that Azerbaijani companies will increase investments in Georgia's economy," Garibashvili said.

ADB appreciates Azerbaijan's preparation for Governors Board in Baku

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) appreciates Azerbaijan's preparation for the annual meeting of the Board of Governors to be held in Baku in May 2015, Secretary General of ADB Vuchung Um said during a meeting with the Minister of Finance Samir Sharifov.

It was noted that the annual meeting will be attended by more than 4,000 guests - ministers of the member countries of the bank, senior state and government officials, businessmen, representatives of international financial institutions and civil society.

During the meeting Azerbaijan's obligations due to the annual meeting, technical issues were discussed and there was an exchange of views in connection with the expected visit of ADB President Takehiko Nakao to Azerbaijan in November this year.

Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan discuss opening of passenger air service

Azerbaijan and Kyrgyzstan agree on a draft of intergovernmental agreement on air traffic, reads the protocol signed on the results of the second meeting of the intergovernmental commission on economic and humanitarian cooperation held in Baku.

Works on an intergovernmental agreement are underway to mark the opening of passenger air traffic.

Previously, as a result of the agreements reached, direct freight transportation between the cities of Baku and Bishkek were established by the Silk Way Azerbaijani airlines company.

Azerbaijan, Malaysia sign documents

After the meeting in an expanded format, the ceremony of signing Azerbaijani-Malaysian documents was held.

"Joint Declaration on friendly relations and partnership between the Republic of Azerbaijan and Malaysia" was signed by President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and Prime Minister of Malaysia Mohammad Najib Tun Abdul Razak.

"Memorandum of Understanding between the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic and Petroliam Nasional Berhad company of Malaysia on cooperation in oil and gas sectors" was signed by President of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic Rovnag Abdullayev and President and Group Chief Executive Officer of Petroliam Nasional Berhad company Tan Sri Dato Shamsul Azhar Abbas.

"Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan (represented by ADA University of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs) and the Government of Malaysia (represented by Institute of Diplomacy and Foreign Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs) on cooperation in the field of training of diplomats" was signed by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan and rector of ADA University Hafiz Pashayev and Director General of Institute of Diplomacy and Foreign Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia Dato Hussin Nayan.
