Azerbaijan to participate in privatization of Serbian companies

Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic summed up his visit to Azerbaijan, saying that an opportunity for even better economic relations with Azerbaijan had opened after a Serbian delegation's visit to Baku, the message posted on the website of the National Information Agency of Serbia Tanjug said.

"I think we left a good impression," the prime minister told reporters after a two-day visit to Baku, where the Serbian delegation met with officials of the Azerbaijani government and companies.

Progress was made regarding the issue of the privatization of the petroleum and chemical complex, and there was also talk about privatizing Serbian agricultural companies, he said.

The meetings were also about projects, he pointed out, adding that companies from Azerbaijan were interested in new investments in Serbia and infrastructure construction.
Serbia and Azerbaijan closely cooperate in the implementation of projects in the field of infrastructure construction. The largest one of these is the construction of the motorway in Serbia, in which the general contractor is the Azerbaijani company AzVirt.

Potential Azerbaijani investors were also presented projects on creation of free economic zones in the Serbian town of Cacak and Kraljevo.

The trade turnover between the two countries in 2014 amounted to $3.84 million, according to the State Statistics Committee of Azerbaijan.

Serbia exports agricultural products, equipment and pumps for the oil and gas industry, as well as furniture and building materials to Azerbaijan.
