Uruguay intends to develop trade relations in region through Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan can help Uruguay to develop trade relations with the countries of the region, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uruguay Jose Luis Cancela said within the framework of an Azerbaijani-Uruguayan business meeting held in Baku.

"Azerbaijan and Uruguay have an interesting similarity," said Cancela. "Our countries aren't very large, but they play an important role in the development of their regions. I believe that in the near future, our countries can become centers for the development of our regions. I also hope that we will not only expand our economic and trade relations with Azerbaijan, but also be able to develop trade relations with other countries in the region with the help of Azerbaijan."

Azerbaijani state budget forecasts for 2016 made public

Revenues of the state budget of Azerbaijan for 2016 are projected at 14.566 billion manats, while expenses are expected to reach 16.264 billion manats, the ministry of finance said in a released state and consolidated budget drafts of the country for 2016.

The budget deficit for 2016 is forecasted at 1.698 billion manats or 2.9 percent of GDP [its volume is set at 57.7 billion manats].

Azerbaijan, Czech Republic sign two documents

A ceremony of signing documents between Azerbaijan and the Czech Republic was held in Baku. Azerbaijan's President Ilham Aliyev and his Czech counterpart Milos Zeman signed a joint declaration on strategic partnership between the two countries.

A memorandum of understanding on cooperation in the agrarian sphere was signed between the agriculture ministries of the two countries. The document was signed by Azerbaijan's Agriculture Minister Heydar Asadov and the Czech Deputy Minister of Agriculture Jaroslava Benes Spalkova.

Azerbaijan, Oman discuss co-op in trade, economic sphere

Cooperation in trade and economic sphere between Azerbaijan and Oman was discussed during the visit of Azerbaijani deputy foreign minister Khalaf Khalafov to Oman.

Khalafov held several meetings at the ministry of foreign affairs in the Omani capital Muscat and met Mohsen bin Khamis al Balushi, advisor in the ministry of commerce and industry of the country. The minister also invited Omani companies to invest in Azerbaijan.

Thailand keen on boosting trade, tourism with Azerbaijan

There are lots of trade opportunities between Azerbaijan and Thailand, the Thai ambassador to Azerbaijan with a residence in Ankara, Tharit Charungvat said in an exclusive interview with Trend. The ambassador said that Thailand has many things to sell to Azerbaijan.

Charungvat also said his country believes that it needs a lot more Azerbaijani oil and gas in the future. The diplomat noted that while in Baku he discussed a possible air service agreement between the two countries, which would be a fundamental agreement allowing flights to Azerbaijan from Thailand.

Azerbaijan considers Dubai customs regulation model for new seaport

Azerbaijan is interested in using the Dubai model of customs regulation at Baku International Sea Trade Port located in the settlement of Alat, Aydin Aliyev, head of Azerbaijan's State Customs Committee said. He made the remarks during the meeting with the delegation led by Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem, chairman of Dubai Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation (United Arab Emirates).

"Customs management is very developed in Dubai and the presentation of the Dubai model of customs regulation aroused our interest," said Aydin Aliyev.

"It is known that major part of the goods imported to Dubai, is delivered through the port," he said. "A large modern port is under construction in Baku as well and when it is fully operational, it will be very useful for us to learn from the experience of Dubai," he said.

International Bank of Azerbaijan, EIB sign first loan agreement

International Bank of Azerbaijan (IBA) and the European Investment Bank (EIB) signed a loan agreement worth 50 million euros in Luxembourg, the bank said.

The European Investment Bank (EIB) is lending to the International Bank of Azerbaijan (IBA) to finance projects promoted by small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

The EU bank's loan will support projects in the priority areas specified by the EIB external lending mandate.

Azerbaijani president attends opening of Aghsu-Kurdamir highway

President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev attended the opening of Aghsu-Kurdamir part of Aghsu-Kurdamir-Imishli highway.
