Austria discloses two areas for expanding economic cooperation with Azerbaijan

Austria and Azerbaijan have a number of priority areas for expanding the cooperation, Christoph Pfeiffer, Commercial Attaché of the Austrian embassy in Azerbaijan, said.

Pfeiffer made this statement at the Azerbaijani-Austrian business forum in Baku.

"We have brought 16 companies, operating in various fields, to Azerbaijan," he said. "This way we want to contribute to the diversification of economic relations between our countries. Some 20 Austrian companies already operate in Azerbaijan.

They render various services in the architectural sector, as well as in the oil and engineering fields, by supplying various equipment to Azerbaijan," Pfeiffer said.

Referring to the priority areas of cooperation between Azerbaijan and Austria, Pfeiffer stressed the potential of the tourism and pharmaceutical sectors.

President Aliyev: Azerbaijan-Georgia co-op important in implementation of large-scale projects

President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received Vice Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia Giorgi Kvirikashvili.

The president described Kvirikashvili`s first visit to Azerbaijan as the Georgian foreign minister as a good sign of friendly and fraternal ties between the two countries.

During the meeting, the sides highlighted the international importance of joint regional projects, including the Southern Gas Corridor and Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway, and exchanged views over coordination issues related to the implementation of these projects.

President Aliyev receives Costa Rican minister of foreign affairs and religion

President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received Minister of Foreign Affairs and Religion of the Republic of Costa Rica Manuel Gonzalez Sanz.

Saying that there were good opportunities for the development of ties between the two countries, the head of state noted that Azerbaijan was interested in expanding bilateral relations with Costa Rica.

President Ilham Aliyev stressed the necessity of further enhancing the ties on various fronts, including economic, energy, investment making, trade, cultural and other areas.

President Aliyev receives delegation led by Governor of Iran`s East Azerbaijan Province

President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has received a delegation led by Governor of the Islamic Republic of Iran`s East Azerbaijan Province Esmail Jabbarzadeh.

President Aliyev said that ties between the two countries were developing successfully, and stressed the importance of overall joint activity based on the principles of friendship and brotherhood.

Italy shows interest in Azerbaijan's construction sector

The role of the non-oil sector in the expansion of relations between Italy and Azerbaijan is gradually increasing, the Italian ambassador in Azerbaijan Giampaolo Cutillo said.

He made the remarks at the opening ceremony of the 21st Azerbaijan International Construction Exhibition BakuBuild, 8th International Exhibition for Heating, Ventilation, Air-Conditioning, Water Supply, Sanitary, Environmental Technology and Swimming Pool and 8th Caspian International Protection, Security and Rescue Exhibition.

"Italy is one of the main trade partners of Azerbaijan," Cutillo said. "We have very developed relations in the oil sector, and we are interested in further expanding relations with Azerbaijan in non-oil sector as well, and the construction sector is one of the areas of interest for us."

This year nearly 80 Italian companies participate in the exhibition, while last year their number didn't exceed 70, according to the ambassador.

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev attended the opening of the newly-built roads around Nariman Narimanov statue, Huseyn Javid and Parliament avenues, and the reconstructed streets and avenues in this area.

President Aliyev: Successfully developing Azerbaijani-Russian bonds - guarantee of stability in region

President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received head of the Republic of Dagestan of the Russian Federation Ramazan Abdulatipov.

The head of state noted that the visit of Ramazan Abdulatipov to Azerbaijan created good opportunities for discussing traditional brotherhood ties.

Ilham Aliyev said relations between Azerbaijan and the Republic of Dagestan were of great importance for the region, and, in general, for the development of Azerbaijani-Russian ties.

The President noted that the strengthening of intergovernmental relations would contribute to the strengthening of traditional Azerbaijani-Dagestani ties.

Azerbaijan to continue co-op with UNDP on AzDATACOM project

Ministry of Communications and High Technologies of Azerbaijan will continue to cooperate with the UNDP within the framework of the "e-governance initiative" joint project.

Issues of cooperation within the framework of this project were discussed by Minister of Communications and High Technologies of Azerbaijan Ali Abbasov with the director of the regional center of the UN Development Program Olivier Adam.

Currently, the AzDATACOM network, which covers all regional centers and residential areas of Baku, has been built within the framework of the project.

The AzDATACOM transport network at its current characteristics is capable of delivering Internet traffic to the regional telecommunications nodes at the speed of 10 Gbit/s.

President Aliyev received the president of ICAO Council and the chairperson of the interstate aviation committee

President Ilham Aliyev received president the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Council Olumuyiwa Benard Aliu and chairperson of the Interstate Aviation Committee Tatiana Anodina.

The head of state stressed the importance of holding the 35th meeting of the Interstate Council on Aviation and Air Space Use dedicated to the 70th anniversary of International Civil Aviation Organization and the 25th anniversary of the Interstate Aviation Committee in Baku. During the meeting, the sides exchanged views over prospects of cooperation between Azerbaijan and the International Civil Aviation Organization.

Azerbaijani president receives delegation led by WB vice president

President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received a delegation led by the World Bank's newly-appointed Vice President for Europe and Central Asia Cyril Muller.

Noting that Azerbaijan is currently at a new stage of development, the president stressed the importance of institutional reforms and stimulation of entrepreneurship in terms of the improvement of the business climate in the country.

The sides also exchanged views over the prospects of cooperation between Azerbaijan and the World Bank.

President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has attended the groundbreaking ceremony of the High Density Polyethylene Plant, which will be built as part of the "SOCAR Polymer" project.
