Ilham Aliyev receives Georgian FM

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received the delegation led by foreign minister of Georgia Mikheil Janelidze.

The sides discussed the expansion of Azerbaijan-Georgia trade, tourism and culture relations, implementation of the Southern Gas Corridor project, the strengthening of the activity of the inter-governmental commission, and a number of other issues.

SOFAZ invests in logistics development in Japan

Asian logistics warehouse operator e-Shang Redwood has raised $100 million investment from the State Oil Fund of Azerbaijan (SOFAZ) to back warehouse development projects in Japan, SOFAZ said.

In the latest investment, SOFAZ is injecting the capital in order to capitalize the gap of supply and growing demand for modern warehouses in Japan, the message said.

“This investment is consistent with our strategy of identifying through rigorous diligence and then committing to the most compelling and focused strategies by geography and asset class,” Shahmar Movsumov, executive director of SOFAZ, said.

“Development of state-of-the-art logistics real estate in Japan, which has witnessed increasing levels of demand associated with growth of e-commerce industry particularly in Tokyo and Osaka is such a strategy and complements well our existing real estate portfolio," he added.

Moody’s keeps Azerbaijan’s sovereign rating

The Moody’s Investors Service international ratings agency has confirmed Azerbaijan’s long-term issuer and senior unsecured debt ratings at Ba1.

The Ba1 rating is supported by sizeable hydrocarbon reserves, which provide substantial revenue to the government; low government debt; and large foreign reserves, according to the Moody’s report.

Moody’s forecasts growth of 1.1 percent in 2017 and 1.9 percent in 2018, as hydrocarbon prices increase, credit growth resumes, and increased gas production from the second stage of the Shah Deniz gas field comes on stream, the report said.

Ilham Aliyev meets CEO of MAN SE in Munich

President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has met with Chief Executive Officer of MAN SE company Joachim Drees in Munich, Germany.

Joachim Drees hailed Azerbaijan’s rapid development, and large scale projects implemented in the country. He also praised work done under transport corridor projects, and expressed the company’s interest in operating in Azerbaijan.

The head of state invited MAN SE representatives to Azerbaijan for exploring cooperation opportunities.

Turkey, Georgia, Azerbaijan plan to increase turnover to $20B

Turkey, Georgia and Azerbaijan plan to increase the volume of mutual trade up to $20 billion, said Turkey’s Deputy Economy Minister Fatih Metin at the 5th Turkey-Azerbaijan-Georgia business forum in Istanbul.

The deputy economy minister noted that Ankara works on elimination of obstacles in the trade among Turkey, Azerbaijan and Georgia.

Azerbaijan, Denmark sign convention to avoid double taxation

The governments of Azerbaijan and Denmark signed the convention on the avoidance of double taxation and prevention of fiscal evasion with respect to taxes on income in Baku.

The document was signed by Azerbaijani Minister of Taxes Fazil Mammadov and Danish Minister of Taxes - Karsten Lauritzen.

Ilham Aliyev meets Kaspersky Lab CEO in Munich

President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev met with chairman and CEO of Kaspersky Lab, Eugene Kaspersky, in Munich, Germany.

Kaspersky stressed the importance of expanding relations with Azerbaijan.

The sides exchanged views over work to ensure the safety of processes in industrial and other spheres.

President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev met with Chief Executive Officer and General Manager of Leonardo company Mauro Moretti in Munich, Germany.

They exchanged views over the enhancement of cooperation.
