Agricultural enterprises, private entrepreneurs and households have been engaged in spring field work in Azerbaijan since January 2017. For this purpose, agrotechnical measures are carried out on the fields and the necessary agricultural machinery is used.
The agricultural production volume in actual prices amounted to 497.2 million manat in Azerbaijan in January-February 2017 or by 3.2 percent more compared to the same period of 2016. According to the Azerbaijani State Statistics Committee’s report, the crop production increased by 28.8 percent and reached 10.2 million manat, livestock production – 2.8 percent and reached 487 million manat in the reporting period.
As of March 1, 2017, some 32,500 hectares were sown, which is by 36 percent less than in the same period of 2016. According to the report, 15,400 tons of perennial plants, 8,900 hectares of potatoes, 6,400 tons of vegetables, 1,700 tons of grain and legumes and 100 hectares of sugar beet have been sown since the beginning of the season.

So, 75,600 tons of meat in live weight, 296,500 tons of milk, 278.8 million pieces of eggs were produced in the country in January-February 2017.
Meat production increased by 3.1 percent, milk production - by 2.2 percent, egg production - by 2.9 percent in January-February 2017 compared to January-February 2016.
The timely zootechnic and veterinary measures, as well as the work aimed at improving the cattle breeds had a positive impact on the dynamic development of livestock.
