The agricultural production volume in actual prices amounted to 1.09 billion manat in Azerbaijan in January-April 2017 increasing by 3.2 percent compared to January-April 2016.
According to the Azerbaijani State Statistics Committee’s report, the crop production increased by 15.8 percent and reached 50.9 million manat, livestock production – 2.6 percent and reached 1,036.1 million manat in the reporting period.
The process of sowing spring crops continued during the reporting period.
As of May 1, 2017, some 334,500 hectares were sown.
According to the report, in particular, 43,600 hectares of cereals and leguminous plants (including 21,200 hectares of fodder corn), 55,200 hectares of potatoes, 44,900 hectares of vegetables, 15,900 hectares of melons and gourds, 11,400 hectares of sugar beet, 9,600 hectares of feeding sunflower, 1,500 hectares of tobacco, 107,500 hectares of cotton, 38,800 hectares of permanent plants, 1,300 hectares of annual plants and 4,800 hectares of other spring plants have been sown since the beginning of the season.

According to the report, as of May 1, over 9,900 tons of potatoes and 70,900 tons of vegetables were collected, which is by 19.3 percent and 20 percent more than in the same period of 2016.
So, 155,500 tons of meat in live weight, 630,700 tons of milk, 578.1 million pieces of eggs and 1,720 tons of wool were produced in the country in January-April 2017.
Meat production increased by 3 percent, milk production by 1.3 percent, egg production - by 6.5 percent and wool production – by 40.9 percent in January-April 2017 compared to January-April 2016.
