The last week was remembered with a range of labor fairs held by the Ministry of Labor and Social Security in the regions. Thus, the week started with a labor fair in Barda, where 36 enterprises offered 301 vacancies and 341 people participated in. As a result, 91 people were provided with jobs, including 59 people вЂ" in the private enterprises. Besides, 15 people were sent to preparatory courses and 10 вЂ" were attracted to public jobs.
After the fairs were held in Shamakhi and Khanlar, and Tovuz and Yevlakh, As a result, 239 people in the regions were provided with jobs.
The organization of labor fairs in regions is one of the events scheduled by the Azerbaijani government as part of the program on the establishment of 600,000 jobs over 5 years.
According to government’s forecasts, the number of people active in the economic sector of the country is to increase 5.9% by 2008 as compared to 2003 and comprise 3,991 million people, i.e. the annual rise is expected to make up 55,500 jobs.
The figure is of course impressive and makes hopeful for rapid resolution of the employment problem in the regions. It might prevent the outflow of the citizens to other places in search of jobs. In this context the efforts by the Labor Ministry should be encouraged.
