Ceremony of opening training for Georgian military for deployment to Afghanistan took place in Georgia

ISAF program to train Georgian military for implementing international missions in Afghanistan started at the National Training Center of the Armed Forces of Georgia in Krtsanisi on August 31.

The 31st infantry battalion of the Georgian Armed Forces will pass six-month intensive training to participate in NATO operations within ISAF, led by expeditionary brigade of U.S. Marines, the Georgian Defense Ministry reported.

The opening ceremony of ISAF training was attended by the U.S. team leader, Colonel Scott Cottrell and Chief of Staff of Infantry Forces of Georgia, Vice-Colonel John Tatunashvili. They wished success the Georgian military in training. 

Colonel Cottrell appreciated the preparedness of the Georgian military to contribute to the security and peace in Afghanistan.
