Kazakh Samruk-Energo Company moves under Samruk-Kazyna’s control

The Sovereign Wealth Fund Samruk-Kazyna became a wholly owned shareholder of Kazakh national company Samruk-Energo, the national company said today.

The Sovereign Wealth Fund Samruk-Kazyna became a wholly owned shareholder of Kazakh national company Samruk-Energo, the national company said today.

According to the report, the shares of Samruk-Energo, owned by KazTransGas were transferred to Samruk-Kazyna in accordance with the Kazakh government's decision.

Samruk-Energo was established in May 2007. It is part of the Sovereign Wealth Fund Samruk-Kazyna. The company operates in the production, distribution and sale of electricity and thermal energy, as well as coal mining.

The installed capacity is 7.970.9 MW or about 40.3 per cent of the installed capacity of power plants in the Kazakh energy system.
