The signing of bilateral documents took place in Bern following high level negotiations between Turkmenistan and Switzerland, the Turkmen government reported.

Turkmen President Gurbanguli Berdimuhamedow and Swiss head of state Eveline Widmer-Schlumpf have signed a Convention for the avoidance of double taxation with respect to taxes on income and capital.

Memorandum on mutual understanding between foreign minister of Turkmenistan and Federal Department of Foreign Affairs of Swiss Confederation, memorandum on mutual understanding between the Institute of international affairs of Turkmen MFA and Geneva Centre of Security Policy, memorandum on mutual understanding between Trade and Industry Chamber of Turkmenistan and joint Chamber of Trade of Switzerland Russia/CIS were signed.

Commenting on negotiation results, the Swiss president stressed their importance in the context of future development of traditionally friendly relations between the countries.

According to Turkmen president, the parties agreed on future activation of joint multilateral activity, particularly within UN and other authoritative international organizations, as well as on continuation of regular consultations between foreign policy agencies.

Speaking on trade and economic cooperation between the countries, Turkmen head of state underlined that it has great prospects and the parties are ready to use the potential in this field more effectively.

Turkmenistan is interested in cooperation with Switzerland in such fields as machinery, chemical, textile, electric and technical and electronic, pharmaceutical industry.
