Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev within the visit to Austria met with Austrian Federal President Heinz Fischer on Monday. The parties held talks in narrow and expanded formats, Kazakh Presidential press-service reported.

"During the meeting the parties discussed prospects of political, trade, economic and cultural cooperation strengthening between the two countries, as well as topical issues of the international agenda," the press-service reported.

According to Nazarbayev, Kazakh-Austrian bilateral relations are developing steadily, and a number of companies with Austrian capital operate successfully in Kazakhstan.

Austria is among Kazakhstan's ten largest trade partners. In 2011 Kazakh-Austrian bilateral trade exceeded $4 billion, including $3.877 billion of Kazakh export and $220.7 million of Kazakh import (49 percent increase compared to 2010). In January-August 2012 bilateral turnover amounted to $3.153 billion (32 percent increase compared to the same period of 2011).
