The leadership of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan and Ukrainian Ambassador Yuriy Savchenko discussed some aspects of the Uzbek-Ukrainian relations, the implementation of previous agreements and other issues on the bilateral agenda on Friday, the Foreign Ministry said.

As previously reported, head of the Ukrainian embassy said official visit of Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov to Uzbekistan is scheduled.

He did not specify the date of the forthcoming visit of the Ukrainian government head. The visit will take place on the current autumn.

The agreement on the official visit of Prime Minister of Ukraine to Uzbekistan and conducting meetings of the intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation in Tashkent was reached during the visit of Foreign Minister of Ukraine Konstantin Grishchenko to Uzbekistan in February this year.

During the visit, the Ukrainian side noted that Uzbekistan is an important and reliable partner of Ukraine in all areas of trade and economic cooperation.

There are great perspectives in the development of bilateral relations in the field of joint high-tech industries, including Navoi and Angren.

According to the Ukrainian side, the trade turnover between Ukraine and Uzbekistan in the last ten years has increased almost ten-fold - from $100 million to $1 billion.

According to the State Statistics Committee, in the first half of the year the Uzbek-Ukrainian trade turnover grew by 35.6 percent to $431.9 million.
