IAEA Deputy Secretary General Herman Nackaerts attended celebration on 34th anniversary of glorious victory of Islamic Revolution of Iran in Vienna here Friday, IRNA reported.

That is while next week the 9th round of Iran-IAEA talks would be held in Tehran, and the International Atomic Energy delegation would be headed by Mr. Nacartes.

In the celebration held at the Representative Building of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Vienna the other distinguished included officials from the Austrian Defense Ministry and the Austrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Also, the ambassadors of the Islamic countries and a number of ambassadors and diplomats of various countries in Austria attended the Iran National Day celebration.

The secretary general of OPEC and some other international institutes in Vienna were the other dignitaries at the event.

From Slovakia, there were some top judiciary officials, as well as diplomats from that country's Foreign Ministry.

The Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Austria Hassan Tajik and the Permanent Representative of Iran at Vienna Office of UN and the other Vienna-based international organization Ali-Asghar Soltaniyeh warmly welcomed the guests at the celebration.

The Islamic Revolution of Iran overthrow of the Pahlavi dynasty under Shah Mohammad-Reza Pahlavi and replaced it with an Islamic republic under Ayatollah Rouhollah Khomeini (P), the leader of the Islamic Revolution.

Demonstrations against the Shah commenced in October 1977, developing into a campaign of civil resistance, and intensified in January 1978. Between August and December 1978 strikes and demonstrations paralyzed the country.

The Shah left Iran for exile on January 16, 1979 as the last Persian monarch and in the resulting power vacuum two weeks later Ayatollah Khomeini (P) returned to Tehran to a greeting by several million Iranians.

The royal reign collapsed shortly after on February 11 when guerrillas and rebel troops overwhelmed troops loyal to the Shah in armed street fighting. Iran voted by national referendum to become an Islamic Republic on April 1, 1979, and to approve a new democratic-theocratic hybrid constitution whereby Khomeini (P) became Supreme Leader of the country, in December 1979.
