Adviser to Iranian minister of Science, Research, and Technology, Kamran Daneshjou, Rasool Malik said that Iran can accept its students studying abroad to come back and continue their education in Iran, IRNA reported.

"The country's Interior Ministry is ready to provide them with necessary transport, so they could return to Iran," Malik said, adding that currently about 60,000 Iranian students are getting their education in foreign countries.

He added that Iranian students abroad can continue their education in Iran, which has all the necessary conditions.

Malik said that some universities in neighboring countries are far from having required educational standards.

"The minimum term for receiving Ph.D. is 27 months," Malik said. "Some of foreign universities offer a much shorter period of education."

He also said that when Iranian students come back to Iran, sometimes problems arise with the documents and degrees they received abroad.

Currently, there are 3-4.5 million students studying in Iran's educational centers and universities.

The number of students in Iran has increased from 170,000 students before the Iranian revolution to 4.5 million.

Iranian young students abroad have acquired high capability in science and technology and the Islamic Republic of Iran expects them to come home and undertake administrative role in different fields to help proceed with the current trend of progress in light of their hard work, faith, insights and courage.

In 2012, director of Iranian Ministry of Science's Development and Planning committee, Abolfazl Hasani said that the student population growth has been increasing alongside with overall country population, which increased from 30 million to some 70 million.

Hasani noted that the last Masters degree exams in Iran saw some 1 million people participating, with over 90,000 people being accepted.

Speaking of Ph.D. exams in the country, Hasani said that some 180,000 people took the exams, with 11,000 people passing the tests.
