The event in Baku has been declared a strategic dialogue on the future of the South Caucasus and Central Asia and will provide an opportunity for investments and development of the region that will show a 5 to 7 percent increase in 2013, according to the forecasts of the International Monetary Fund, while Europe is facing the threat of recession, the report says.

The decision to hold the Strategic Dialogue was taken in January at the Davos meeting of the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and the Executive Chairman of the World Economic Forum Klaus Schwab, in which they recognized the need for localized events "for revealing opportunities related to the future of the region."

Mainly issues related to such areas as industry, natural resources, transport, infrastructure, agriculture, finance and telecommunications will be discussed at the forum, the report said.

During two days of the forum participants will discuss topics of entrepreneurship and human capital, the vision of the future of the South Caucasus and Central Asia, and the issues of finances and long-term investment.

Azerbaijan will be discussed at the special session "The Vision of Azerbaijan: towards a new economy," the report said.
