Azerbaijan's Ministry of Culture and Tourism has announced the list of regions where pilot modernized village libraries will be created.

The project on the creation of modernized libraries, that is, the new rural library-information centres is planned to be implemented in 16 regions of Azerbaijan, the head of the library sector at Culture and Tourism Ministry Latifa Mammadova told Trend on Tuesday.

According to her, the modernized libraries will be created in Tovuz, Dashkasan, Yardimli, Gadabay, Kurdamir, Agdash, Beylagan, Neftchala, Guba, Barda, Zagatala, Masalli, Astara, Lankaran, Salyan and Ujar regions.

Such modern libraries will be created in only one settlement of each of the above mentioned regions.

They will be available for five to nine villages located within a close distance of each other.

The new libraries will have service departments, reading rooms, multimedia and information resource rooms, rooms for events of village communities, various rooms to provide library services, for example, a corner for fairy tales, a travel corner, cinema room, the room for art world and the other rooms. A small local history museum can be created in these libraries.

According to Mammadova, the commercial proposals for creation of a modernized library will be prepared by the Azerbaijani company Rubikon. This company employed Turkish specialists and architects to this work.

"We have made an order to the company, according to which library will be built for the country's low-lying areas, and another project for the mountainous regions. Now the company is preparing a project of the new village library and information centres, which will soon be submitted to the ministry," head of the library sector at Culture and Tourism Ministry Latifa Mammadova said.
