Georgia, Israel to define priorities on military cooperation

By Nana Kirtzkhalia -Trend: Tbilisi, Georgia, Dec.9, 2013: Georgian Defence Minister Irakli Alasania met with his Israeli counterpart Moshe Yaalon. As the Georgian Defence Ministry said on Dec.9, an official welcoming ceremony for the Georgian guest was held at the Israeli Defence Ministry yesterday.

The sides discussed prospects of military cooperation. As Alasania said, the talks touched upon development of defence capabilities and cooperation in the military industry.
"At the meeting with the defence minister, we discussed future military cooperation. We agreed to develop a joint plan within the next month in connection with how our relationship should develop in different priority areas," Alasania stressed.
He invited his Israeli counterpart to Georgia which will be the basis for further joint development in the field of security and defence between the two countries.
During the visit, the Georgian delegation also met with National Security Adviser Yossi Cohen and the director of the Political-Military Affairs Bureau at Israel's Defence Ministry, Amos Gilad.
