Turkey will toughen criminal responsibility for crimes of sexual violence, Sabah newspaper reported today.

According to the newspaper, previously, the individuals who committed crimes of sexual violence were imprisoned for two years and seven months in Turkey. But according to the new law, the minimum prison term will be four years, with a maximum of ten years.

According to the newspaper, the new bill envisages the minimum punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of six years for an attempt to commit sexual assault. The imprisonment for up to ten years is envisaged for committing sexual assault under the threat of any weapons.

The newspaper reported that the new bill envisages imprisonment for a term up to 15 years for sexual offenses against children.
