Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili discussed issues of oil and gas production in Georgia with the Indian Jindal Petroleum Ltd.

Garibashvili met on Saturday with representatives of the Indian company at the State Chancellery, the PM's press service told Trend.

The meeting was attended by the Georgian Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Giorgi Kvirikashvili.

Irakli Garibashvili thanked the guests for the visit and expressed the hope that future cooperation will further strengthen.

"Your company is one of the biggest players in the oil and gas sector of Georgia. I am also aware that the company is interested in continuing to invest in Georgia, and we welcome this intention. I believe that India and Georgia have a lot in common in those traditions that are associated with family, love of country and struggle for freedom," Irakli Garibashvili said.

Jindal Petroleum Ltd. mainly produces steel, coal, electricity and its basic assets amount to $18 billion. The company is included in Jindal Group. It owns the right for exploration and production of oil and gas on five license blocks in Georgia.
