Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab African Affairs Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and Iraqi Deputy Foreign Minister Javad al-Doraki on Tuesday discussed the latest developments in Syria, IRNA reported.
The two deputy foreign ministers called for an immediate end to violence and resumption of Syrian-Syrian talks.
Both officials maintained that Syrian crisis resolution is contingent upon political not a military approach.
Amir-Abdollahian said that the Islamic Republic of Iran is willing to enhance level of economic and cultural cooperation with the neighboring Iraq.
Al-Doraki said that the Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari was scheduled to pay a visit to Iran, but, it was delayed due to his visit to the United Arab Emirates.
Excellent talks have been done between the Iranian and Iraqi foreign ministers, al-Doraki said, adding that the Iraqi government id ready to help organize expert-level meetings to explore the grounds for cooperation.
