Azerbaijan, Turkey discuss prospects of developing military ties

On Dec. 18 the Azerbaijani Defense Minister, Colonel-General Zakir Hasanov received the head of the General Plan and Principles Department of the Turkish Armed Forces, General Staff, Lieutenant General Alpaslan Erdogan.

Alpaslan Erdogan expressed his satisfaction with the meeting within the Azerbaijan-Turkey High-Level Military Dialogue, held in Baku in line with the plan of bilateral cooperation, the Azerbaijani Defence Ministry's website reported.

He said military cooperation is being built on friendly and fraternal relations, according to the ministry's website.

Colonel-General Zakir Hasanov informed Alpaslan Erdogan about the measures taken for development of the armed forces and importance of issues of bilateral cooperation in the current military-political situation in the region. Azerbaijani minister also stressed the importance of solving the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

After the meeting, the sides exchanged ideas on prospects of development of ties between Azerbaijan's and Turkey's armed forces.

The meeting was attended by Turkey's Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Ismail Alper Coskun and the military attaché of Turkey in Azerbaijan, Brigadier General Hasan Nevzat Tasdeler.
