Turkmenistan's national airline Turkmenhavayollari (Turkmen airlines) is launching new flights to Paris and Milan and envisages connecting Novosibirsk and other Russian cities with East Asian countries, Turkmen Dovlet Khabarlary (TDH) State News Service reported on Dec.20.
"Preparations are also underway to embark on international flights from Ashgabat to Munich, Rome and Jeddah (Saudi Arabia)," TDH said.
The National Programme for the Development of Civil Aviation in Turkmenistan envisages the opening of new flights on economically advantageous routes.
According to TDH, for the period from now until 2015, it is planned to commence flights from the airports of Turkmenbashi to Istanbul (Turkey), Moscow (Russia) and Aktau (Kazakhstan) and from Ashgabat to Urumqi (China), Novosibirsk (Russia), Antalya (Turkey) , Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh (Vietnam) and Riga (Latvia).
Currently Turkmenhavayollari, in addition to domestic airlines has regular flights to dozens of cities around the world such as Moscow and London, Frankfurt and Birmingham, Bangkok and Delhi, Dubai and Minsk, Almaty, Istanbul and Kiev. The flight routes are constantly expanding. New flights also opened to St. Petersburg, Donetsk and Lviv.
