Kyrgyz President Almazbek Atambayev has met with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Kabar agency reported.
The meeting of the two leaders was held at the Kremlin Palace before the meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council.
The "road map" on Kyrgyzstan's accession to the Customs Union was discussed at the meeting. The parties also raised the issue of Kyrgyzstan's participation in the integration processes with Russia.
From the Kyrgyz side First Deputy Prime Minister Jomart Otorbayev and Foreign Minister Erlan Abdyldaev participated at the expanded meeting.
President Atambayev is on a two-day working visit in Moscow.
The Eurasian customs union is a form of trade and economic integration of the Republic of Belarus, Kazakhstan and the Russian Federation which ensures a single customs territory.
Customs duties and restrictions of economic nature are not used in the mutual trade of goods with the exception of special protective, antidumping and countervailing measures within this territory. The member countries of the customs union apply a unified customs tariff and other common measures to regulate trade in goods with third countries.
The Customs Union of the three countries began operating in January 2012. Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Syria, Vietnam, New Zealand and Armenia have expressed a desire on making accession to the Customs Union. As a result of negotiations with Russian President Vladimir Putin in early September in Moscow, Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan stated that he has confirmed Armenia's desire to join the Customs Union and to be involved in the process of formation of the Eurasian Economic Union.
Alongside with Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan also didn't join the free trade agreement signed on Oct.18, 2011 by the heads of governments of eight CIS member states.
