The mother of Iranian foreign minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, Effat Kashani, has passed away, U.S. State Department's Persian-speaking spokesman Alan Eyre said on his Facebook page.
Eyre offered his condolences to Iran's high-ranking official and his family.
"We were informed of Mrs. Kashani's passing, and we would like to offer our condolences to his dear family," Eyre wrote on his page.
Zarif himself, who regularly updates his Facebook page, has not posted anything regarding the passing of his mother.
