Georgia will hold an international tender for the food supply to its army.
Georgian Defense Minister Irakli Alasania said on Dec.27 that the tender will be open and objective.
"We have corrected the systemic problems in this field. It is planned to put food service on an international tender. We want to announce an international tender next year, tentatively in the spring, in which, alongside with local producers, foreign companies will also be able to participate," the minister said.
Consultations are being held with the Ministry of Agriculture and there is an agreement that a certain part of products will be purchased only from local producers, according to the minister.
"We want to move the army to natural Georgian foods and thus to contribute to the development of local entrepreneurship, including livestock," Irakli Alasania said.
