Georgian courts face record-breaking increase in number of criminal cases

Tbilisi, Georgia, Dec.30
By Nana Kirtzkhalia - Trend:

A record-breaking increase was observed in the number of criminal cases submitted for consideration of courts in 2013, chairman of Georgian Supreme Court Konstantin Kublashvili said on Dec.30 summing up the results of the year.

The number of criminal, civil and administrative cases significantly decreased in 2010; in 2011 their number was less and in 2012 - even less, according to Kublashvili.

"The number of criminal cases radically increased in 2013. This is related primarily to amnesty. Over 40,000 cases were received. The number of criminal cases received by the courts increased by 10,000 in first eleven months of 2013 compared to 2012," Kublashvili said
