Iran calls for enhanced ties with IDB

Vice-President for Planning and Strategic Supervision, Mohammad-Baqer Nobakht on Monday stressed the need for expansion of Iranˈs relations with the Islamic Development Bank (IDB), IRNA reported.

During a meeting with IDB President Ahmad Mohamed Ali who is on a visit to Iran, Nobakht referred to abundant capacities for cooperation between Iran and IDB, voicing Iranˈs readiness to implement ideas put forward by the bank.

The remaining two years of Iranˈs Fifth Five-Year Development Plan is a proper chance for Iran to make use of IDBˈs proposals, he said.

As Iran prepares to draft its Sixth Development Plan as of next year, the IDB can help Iran establish better relations with neighboring countries, he added.

Given Iranˈs experience in implementation of projects in West and Central Asia, Nobakht said, Iran can supply neighboring countries with technical and engineering services through cooperation with the IDB.

The IDB president, for his part, said Iran can play an important role in cooperation with Central Asian countries and newly-independent countries as it possesses a high status among Islamic countries.

He called for Iranˈs partnership in IDBˈs 30-year plan on development of sciences and technologies.

In the meantime, Vice-President for Science and Technology, Sorena Sattari who was also present in the meeting, said that Iran is ready to supply Islamic countries with scientific and technological products.
