By Fatih Karimov - Trend:

Iranian deputy foreign minister Majid Takhtravanchi has criticized the U.S. for imposing sanctions against an Iranian airline company, IRIB reported on Jan. 8.

The United States Commerce Department has issued an emergency order using U.S. anti-terrorism export control laws against a Turkish company in an attempt to stop it from exporting two Boeing airplane engines to Iran.

The order posted online was issued Friday because U.S. officials believed that an Iranian cargo company was set to pick up the secondhand engines Tuesday. The order also targeted the Iranian company, Pouya Airline.

We have announced it both publicly and to U.S. officials that such decisions will be harmful to the continuation of negotiations, Takhtravanchi said, adding that Mr. Araqchi will inform Ms. Schmid of the issue in their upcoming meeting.

Abbas Araqchi the Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs has announced that a meeting between him and Helga Schmid a top aide to the EU foreign policy chief will be held on January 9-10.
