By Daniar Mukhtarov - Trend:

Kazakhstan intends to learn from Chinese and Russian experience for protection of interests of producers within the Common Economic Space (CES) and the World Trade Organization (WTO), Kazakhstan National Chamber of Entrepreneurs Deputy Chairman, Rahim Oshakbayev told journalists on Jan. 14.

He made the remarks on the sidelines of a meeting that discussed the Treaty on the Eurasian Economic Union.

"Kazakhstan intends to learn from the experience of China and Russia to protect its producers within the CES and the WTO," Oshakbayev said.

He said the country's government can use various tools to protect domestic business.

"China has lifted the ban on sale of foreign companies' gaming consoles in its market. This is a huge market. The Chinese government defined that for entering its market, the trade or production of foreign gaming consoles should be made via a local resident," Oshakbayev said.

He said in order to support the domestic auto industry Russia has introduced a subsidy of 100 billion rubles for compensating automakers' expenditures on modernization and training of professionals. Aside from that, Russia has imposed the so-called recycling collection for cars imported from abroad.

"Today, there are extensive tools for protection of domestic producers and we can use those tools," Oshakbayev said.

Currently, Kazakhstan, Russia and Belarus, which are members of the Customs Union and the Common Economic Space, are working on a draft treaty on the Eurasian Economic Union. The latest version of the draft treaty is 800 pages.

The draft treaty on the Eurasian Economic Union must be agreed upon by spring 2013.
