Iran will be building its relations with the world, based on its own national interests, the country's president Hassan Rouhani said, IRIB News reported on Jan. 14.

Rouhani made the remarks in his speech to the people in Iran's Khuzestan province's Ahvaz city.

Speaking about the Geneva nuclear agreement, Rouhani said that it means the capitulation of the big powers, and it means that the world has accepted Iran's achieved peaceful nuclear technology.

The U.S. and its Western allies suspect Iran of developing a nuclear weapon - something that Iran denies. The Islamic Republic has on numerous occasions stated that it does not seek to develop nuclear weapons, using nuclear energy for medical researches instead.

It should be noted that Iran and the P5+1 reached a nuclear agreement on Nov. 24. Iran has agreed to curb some of its nuclear activities for six months in return for sanctions relief.

"The Geneva agreement is a new refusal from the unfair sanctions on the people of Iran," Rouhani said.

"After the political epopee of Iranian people in June, at the presidential elections, the whole world has bowed down in front of this nation's greatness," Rouhani said.
