Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili met with Managing Director of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) Olivier Descamps on Jan.14.

The meeting was of an introductory nature during which issues of deepening relations with Europe and attracting European investments were discussed, the Georgian government said.

Currently, about 1.8 billion euros of EBRD investment in Georgia are directed to finance 150 projects. The major part of the financing falls to the private sector.

Olivier Descamps is a high-ranking person in EBRD determining general policy with regard to Georgia. Descamps oversees a bank in Turkey, Eastern European countries, Caucasus and Central Asia.
