Foreign Ministry: Iran's nuclear facilities were fully open to inspection even before Geneva agreements

Iran's nuclear facilities have been open to the most thorough inspections of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in the past ten years, so nothing will change on Jan. 20, when the Geneva agreements on reduction of Iran's nuclear program will come into force, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said RIA Novosti reported on Jan. 16.

At a meeting held on Nov. 24, 2013 Iran and the P5+1 countries (Russia, USA, UK, France, China and Germany) agreed on measures to significantly decrease Iran's nuclear program in anticipation of the full agreement. In particular, Iran committed to stop uranium enrichment exceeding five percent, to suspend the production of plutonium and centrifuges and allow IAEA inspectors into its nuclear facilities.

"Access of IAEA inspectors to all Iranian nuclear facilities was opened earlier - ten years have passed from the moment when it all began ... Iran's nuclear facilities were available and open for detailed inspections and conducting any measures - even more than any other nuclear facility in the region, and perhaps beyond. So on Jan. 20 access to our nuclear facilities will be open, as it was before," Zarif said in an interview with TV channel RT.

The Iranian FM said that Iran does not need "unexpected inspections".

"We have checks every day. When you are checked every day, how can there be unexpectedness," Zarif said.
