The Georgian government office held the first meeting of the Security Council which was led by Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili and discussed issues of internal and external security, the Georgian prime minister's press service told Trend on Jan.21.

The meeting was held behind closed doors. It was attended by the Defence Minister, Foreign Minister, Finance Minister, State Minister for Reconciliation and Civil Equality, the speaker of the parliament, the head of the intelligence service, the head of the State Council for security and crisis management and the special representative of the prime minister on relations with Russia.

Georgian President Giorgi Margvelashvili and NSC secretary Irina Imerlishvili were not among the attendees. They are on a visit in Turkey.
