The deputy prime minister of Turkey is scheduled to participate in meetings on competitiveness and diplomacy in the digital age at the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum this week in Switzerland Anadolu News Agency reported.

Ali Babacan will join a session titled "The New European Framework" on January 23 and a session called "European Business Council" the following day.

He is also slated to be one of the speakers at the "New Steps for Emerging Economies" on January 24, according to a statement from his office.

Babacan will participate as well in meetings on "Competitiveness at Global Energy," "Determination of Priority of the Year 2014," "Redefining Diplomacy and Management in the Digital Age," "The Reshaping of Growth and Employment Policy."

In addition, he will hold bilateral talks with political leaders and senior executives of multinational companies.

The focus of Davos 2014 is "The Reshaping of the World: Consequences for Society, Politics and Business." Some of the issues highlighted on the agenda are economic growth, environmental sustainability, and financial systems.

The 44th meeting of the World Economic Forum will bring together 40 high-level political figures including presidents and prime ministers as well as an audience of 2,500 from the political and economical arena. It is expected that 250 closed meetings will take place during the forum.
