The Georgian Foreign Ministry issued a statement due to the events in Kiev and called on the Ukrainian government to refrain from using force.

The Georgian Foreign Ministry expressed deep regret for the victims of the events in Kiev and expresses condolences to their families.

"Georgia respects the right of each country to determine its foreign policy priorities, but at the same time it should comply with the principles of freedom of expression and assembly of citizens. The Georgian Foreign Ministry calls upon the Ukrainian Government and the protesters to refrain from using force and hopes that Ukraine, which has traditionally been in friendly relations with Georgia and successfully cooperated with it bilaterally, multilaterally, and within the Eastern Partnership, will be able to defuse the situation through dialogue in the interest of the country and the Ukrainian people. In the future we sincerely wish to see Ukraine along with Georgia as a country that shares European values in the big European family," the Georgian Foreign Ministry said in its statement.
