Iran may simplify its visa regime with neighboring states, Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif said in Ashgabat at the meeting of the Turkmen-Iranian Commission on Economic Cooperation, Russian media reported.

"It above all refers to the citizens of the countries neighboring the Islamic Republic. The minister believes it is particularly important to eliminate the existing obstacles to movement of businessmen...," Iran.ru news agency reported citing the speech of the Iranian minister.

The information said that among the perspective directions of cooperation with Turkmenistan, Zarif pointed out the operation of checkpoints in Sarahs, Lutfabad, Bajgiran and Incheburun as well as the construction of Iran-Turkmenistan-Kazakhstan railway.

The minister also stressed the importance of the Turkmenistan-Iran-Oman transport corridor, in particular for the export of Central Asian products to the world market.

Iran has land borders with Azerbaijan, Afghanistan, Armenia, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Iraq and Pakistan. Iran also borders the Caspian Sea, the Persian and Oman Gulfs of the Indian Ocean.
