Brahimi: Aid convoys to reach Homs Monday

The first convoy to reach the northern city of Homs is expected to reach the besieged city as early as Monday after the Syrian government agreed to allow relief agencies greater access to the city, UN mediator Lakhdar Brahimi announced, dpa reported.

In a press conference following the first round of talks, Brahimi announced that Damascus has agreed to allow hundreds of tons of medical and food aid into Homs.

"Nominally, tomorrow the governor is going to meet with his security advisor and we hope, ultimately at some point some convoy of aid goods, both food and non-food items and some medical supplies will be allowed to go into the old city," Brahimi said.
