Rosoboronexport: Iran and Russia to find compromise solution on arms supply

Iran and Russia will find a compromise solution that would satisfy primarily the Iranian side in the claim to the Rosoboronexport company because of the termination of the contract for the supply of S-300 complexes, Rosoboronexport director general Anatoly Isaykin said in an interview with the Russian newspaper Kommersant today.

"This is the legitimate right of the Iranian side to bring a suit to international arbitration for failure to perform a contract," he said. "Any litigation is unpleasant. But I am sure that we will find a compromise solution that would satisfy primarily the Iranian side."

"If the matter rests in any replacement, it should be a system that will not fall under UN Security Council's sanctions," he said.

"The matter can rest in different variants, but they must meet the requirements I have mentioned," he said.

The contract on supplying S-300 to Iran was signed in late 2007, but in 2010, Russia refused to supply in connection with UN Security Council's sanctions against Iran, prohibiting providing Tehran with modern weapons. In response, Iran brought a suit to the International Arbitration Court of Geneva.
