Israeli President Shimon Peres and Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili expressed their readiness to strengthen and intensify bilateral Georgian-Israeli relations during a meeting in Tel Aviv on Jan.28.

Garibashvili expressed regret over the death of Israel's former Prime Minister Ariel Sharon, the prime minister's press service said.

The parties discussed the status of bilateral relations and stated they have conditions and prerequisites for the progress.

The Israeli president expressed satisfaction with the start of the Georgian-Israeli intergovernmental commission's work which will contribute to the strengthening of relations between Georgia and Israel. Peres also expressed satisfaction with the fact that the Jewish community in Georgia doesn't face problems in the country.
