Switzerland is interested in developing relations with Azerbaijan in various spheres, Chairman of the Council of States ( upper house of the Swiss parliament ) Hannes Germann said at a meeting with Azerbaijani Ambassador to the country Akram Zeynalli, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry reported today.

During the meeting the parties expressed satisfaction with the current level of relations between Azerbaijan and Switzerland. The need for further development of relations was highlighted, according to the report.

The Azerbaijani ambassador emphasised the role of the parliaments in the development of relations between the two countries. He stressed the importance of the activity of the friendship groups in the parliaments of both countries, as well as mutual visits, according to the report.

Moreover, the Azerbaijani diplomat invited the head of the Swiss Council of States to become a member of the Switzerland - Azerbaijan Interparliamentary Friendship Group and this proposal was accepted.

The aspects of bilateral economic and political relations, including the activity of enterprises operating in both countries were discussed at the meeting. Views on the Nagorno- Karabakh conflict were exchanged.
