As of January 31, 2014, the daily volume of gas supplied to the population of Azerbaijan was 29.3 million cubic meters against 26.2 million cubic meters as of January 22. The increase is linked to deteriorating weather conditions, SOCAR's Azerigaz Production Association (PA), which is engaged in the distribution and sale of gas across Azerbaijan, told Trend today.

Just within a day, the daily gas consumption in the country increased by two million cubic meters an Avergaz PA spokesperson said.

"Whilst yesterday the daily gas consumption in the country was 27.3 million cubic meters, presently according to operational data, the figure is 29.3 million cubic meters," Azerigaz stressed.

Baku accounted for 17.9 million cubic meters of the total volume of daily gas consumption in the country and regions at 11.4 million cubic meters.

Azerigaz said that there is no problem with gas supplies to the customers and when necessary supply volumes will be increased.

In 2013, Azerigaz PA supplied over 2.2 billion cubic meters of gas to its customers. As of January 1, 2014, the number of customers amounted to 1,647,906. Of the total number of customers, 1,628,076 fall into the category of the population and 19,830 customers to other categories.
