Turkmenistan's extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador to Turkey, Ata Serdarov (who also serves as an ambassador in Israel) has presented his credentials to the Israeli President Shimon Peres, according to the Turkmen government's message.

"During the meeting the parties discussed prospects of development of the Turkmen-Israeli cooperation in political, trade-economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres," Turkmen government said.

During the meeting held in Tel Aviv the Israeli president asked the Turkmen diplomat "to convey his warm greetings and best wishes to Turkmen President, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov", according to the message.

Turkmenistan and Israel are holding talks on development prospects of cooperation in economy, business, energy, tourism, education and the rational use of water resources.

Israel once took an active part in the reconstruction of Turkmenistan's largest oil refinery in Turkmenbashi city.

In recent years this plant has been reconstructed. The reconstruction worth over $2 billion was conducted with investments from several banks in Europe and Asia.

The contracting services were rendered by Japanese, Turkish, French, German, Israeli, Iranian and others companies.
