A new subway line has been commissioned in the Turkish capital of Ankara today, Turkish news agency Anadolu reported on Feb. 12.

Turkish President Abdulla Gul, Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan and other officials attended the opening of the Batıkent-Sincan new subway line.

The length of the new line in Ankara is 15.5 kilometres. Its construction began in February 2012. The new line has connected 11 stations.

The subway was put into operation in Ankara in 1996. The total length of subway lines in Turkey's capital is 60.4 kilometres. Ankara's subway consists of 22 stations.
