The next meeting of Georgian and Russian official representatives as part of
settling the bilateral relations between the two countries will be held in Prague on March 5.

The preparation of a meeting between the Russian and Georgian presidents Vladimir Putin and Giorgi Margvelashvili will be discussed during a meeting between Georgian Prime Minister's Special Representative for relations with Russia Zurab Abashidze and Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Grigory Karasin.

"The actions taken since the beginning of this format will be discussed," Abashidze added. "The results of the first stage of the dialogue, a visa regime and regular flights will be the main topic of the talks. We will also discuss issues of trade-economic and cultural relations."

The first meeting in this format was held in Geneva on December 14, 2012, the last meeting was in Prague on November 21, 2013.

Large scale military action was launched in South Ossetia on August 8, 2008. Later, Russian troops occupied Tskhinvali and expelled the Georgian military.

Russia recognized the independence of South Ossetia and Abkhazia in late August. In response, Tbilisi ended diplomatic relations with Moscow and has called the two unrecognized republics of Abkhazia and South Ossetia occupied territories.
